This past Saturday, April 14th, 2018 the North Forney Indoor Percussion Ensemble competed in the North Texas Colorguard Association Championship to defend their 2017 championship title.
The NTCA Championship is the culmination of a season of 5 contests that began in February.
Going into the championship, North Forney was seated in 1st place. In championship competition, North Forney earned the 1st place gold medal with a score of 94.95.
Once again, North Forney Percussion scored the highest score of the entire championship, out scoring 38 participating groups. The NF percussion score of 94.95 is the highest percussion score ever obtained by a percussion group in the 25 year history of the NTCA. On April 14th across the state of Texas, there were 90 indoor percussion groups competing at two circuit championships.
North Forney Indoor Percussion outscored every group across the state. A score of 94.95 reflects the judges’ appreciation of an outstanding performance that was both technical and precise. Even more compelling is the emotion you feel when you watch these students perform.
This year, these percussionists possessed an incredible ability to connect with the audience and draw them into the performance. That ability is very rare and cannot be assessed with a quantitative score.
The next performance of the North Forney Percussion Group is Saturday, May 5th at 5:30 pm in the North Forney High School Auditorium. Admission is free, and the group will perform a variety of percussion music including our 2018 championship indoor production entitled “The End of Days.” Bring your family and come enjoy an engaging performance by these talented students who proudly represent our Forney community.
