Here is a recap of the Regional Championship Game vs. Frisco Reedy.

Coming into this winner take all Regional Championship Game, the Forney Lady Rabbits knew that they needed to play at a high level. But, in the top of the 1st inning, Reedy jumped ahead by a count of 1-0 when they scored a run due in large part to a Forney error.

However, Forney answered back by plating 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning, 4 in the second, 1 in the fourth, 3 in the fifth, and 1 in the sixth on their way to an ultimate 11-1 victory.

Note: This game was called after the 6th inning due to the UIL Run Rule. Forney definitely played at a high level in this game when they needed to most.

In bottom of the 1st inning, Savanna DsRochers and Sadie Hewitt drove in runs with a RBI ground out and a RBI sacrifice fly to right respectively. These runs gave Forney a 2-1 lead. It would be a lead that they never would relinquish.

Then, in the bottom of the 2nd, Forney plated four more runs which pushed their advantage up to 6-1. RBI’s in this frame for Forney came from Trinity Cannon (RBI infield single) and Sadie Hewitt (2 RBI single to left).

In the bottom of the 4th, Forney registered another run when Sadie Hewitt smacked a RBI single that deflected off the face of the Reedy pitcher. Note: Thankfully, according to reports, the Reedy pitcher will be ok after some recovery time in the off season. So now, the score stood at 7-1 in favor of Forney.

Then, in the 5th inning, Hannah Holdbrook came up to the plate with two runners already on base. The senior left fielder for the Lady Rabbits proceeded to loop a ball into left field. When the ball hit the ground, it skidded away from Reedy’s left fielder. When that happened, all of the Forney runners raced around the bases to score. When Holdbrook touched home plate safely, she was credited with a 3 run inside the park homer. This big sequence raised Forney’s lead to 10-1.
