State Fair Livestock Competition Provides Texas Students with Scholarships

The Livestock Judging Pavilion was crowded with families watching the action as hundreds of different swine, sheep and goats were displayed during the 2018 State Fair of Texas Youth Livestock Auction competition.

These animals were lovingly and meticulously cared for by Texas children and showing their animals at the State Fair of Texas is the pentacle of achievement for many 4-H and FFA members’.

Dozens of families traveled from all over Texas to exhibit their market animals at the 2018 State Fair of Texas before selling them to the highest bidder.

In 2017 the State Fair of Texas Youth Livestock Auction awarded $1.4 million dollars in scholarships, with 120 scholarships going to livestock youth exhibits and 105 scholarships going to high schools.

And this year, the SFT added 111 additional lots to the auction in order to provide more students with the opportunity to earn educational scholarship funding.

The State Fair of Texas Youth Livestock judging and auction is extremely fast paced and exciting and delivers a truly historic feel to spending a day at the State Fair of Texas.
